Cryptocurrencies offer freedom and opportunities, but they have also become a target for scammers. Whether you are new to crypto or an experienced user, it is essential to recognize and avoid fraud attempts. Here, we go through six common types of crypto scams and how to protect yourself.

1. Fake customer support calls
You might receive a call from someone claiming to work for our platform. They may ask for your account details, password, or to confirm a transaction. Never share any information over the phone. Instead, hang up and contact our support directly via our official website.
2. Request remote access to your computer
Some scammers call or send messages claiming they need remote access to your computer to fix an issue with your crypto account or wallet. If you give them access, they can steal both your cryptocurrencies and other sensitive information. Never allow anyone remote access to your device.
3. Fake verification requests (through e.g. BankID)
If you receive a request to verify your identity, for example, through BankID, without having initiated any action yourself, do not approve it. This could be a scammer trying to access your account.
4. Requests to send money or crypto to unknown wallets
If you receive a message asking you to send cryptocurrency to a specific wallet, be very skeptical. Scammers use this method to trick you into transferring funds to their addresses. Always double-check the address and the purpose of the transaction.
5. Suspicious emails or SMS messages
Phishing scams are common in crypto, where you may receive an email or SMS that appears to come from our platform but contains subtle errors in the sender's address or links leading to fake websites. These messages often use urgent wording to pressure you into acting quickly. Never click on suspicious links. Instead, manually enter our official web address in your browser and contact us if you are unsure.
6. Downloading unknown apps
Scammers may ask you to download an app that supposedly enhances your security or verifies your account. These apps can be used to steal your crypto holdings or personal information. Never download apps from unknown sources.
