Why Swedish women need to wake up
2025-03-04
On International Women's Day, we celebrate women's progress and rights – but how free are we really when it comes to our finances? In Sweden, we have access to bank accounts, loans, and pensions, but all within a system we do not control.
Economic control is one of the state’s most powerful tools. If we zoom out from Sweden, we see how women worldwide are denied access to their own money – even in societies we consider similar to our own.
Economic sovereignty means independence from the state and banks, as well as from men. Historically, women have been economically dependent on their husbands and societal institutions. Bitcoin offers an entirely new opportunity to break that pattern.
Bitcoin is not risky - not having bitcoin is
Despite offering economic freedom and long-term stability, Swedish media paints Bitcoin as highly risky and uncertain.
Meanwhile they normalize that the Swedish krona continually loses value, as the central bank prints new money, devaluing our wages and savings without our consent. Our time and labor become worth less and less.
Women, especially those nearing retirement, face financial insecurity due to lower wages, part-time work, and taking more parental and caregiver leave than men. Investing in Bitcoin allows women to save in an asset that preserves value over time—free from central bank interference.
Sweden is not immune to financial power plays
We like to believe that what happens in other countries could never happen here. But during the pandemic, we saw how governments used financial control to silence people.
In Canada, the government froze bank accounts of those who supported truckers' protests, even those who simply donated small amounts. It was enough to hold an opinion the state disapproved of to have your funds frozen.
Sweden is not immune to the same type of measures. Our system is built on trust, but that trust is fragile. Bitcoin was the solution in Canada – no one could freeze these assets or block transactions.
Hope for the future
Money is ultimately a symbol of your work, energy and time away from family and friends. But in today's financial system, that time is losing value. Those in charge continuously devalue that precious time. Bitcoin restores that balance.
Today, the majority of Bitcoin is owned by men. Do we really want the future of finance to be dominated by them - again?
“One of the main reasons that I love Bitcoin is that it gives me hope for my children's future. In a world that is getting more and more difficult for them, I hope having a few savings in Bitcoin will help them.” - Clair Prince
A successful society is measured by the security and freedom of its women. Bitcoin empowers women. And strong women build strong societies – something everyone benefits from.
