We are a single-issue organization, with the most important concern for us being the political parties' views on cryptocurrencies, especially bitcoin.

In a world where over 70% of the population lives under authoritarian regimes, the need for secure and accessible financial resources has never been clearer. Governments undermine currencies, monitor transactions, and freeze people's assets. In this climate, Bitcoin is more important than ever.

Goobit/BTCX Voter Guide for the EU Election

This is how BTCX proceeded:

All parties were asked the same question, which was sent to the party's info address or a similar email address. If they did not respond, they received a reminder after a few days. If they responded with further questions or instructions, it was counted as a non-response to ensure that all had the same opportunity to reply. The responses are presented unedited. In one case, we chose to add information about an individual candidate from one of the parties, but note that the party did not actually respond.

Here was the simple question we asked:

Hello,
For the EU election, we would like to inform our readers about the parties' stance on bitcoin, so we are asking a fairly open question to everyone:
What is the party's view on bitcoin as a phenomenon and its role in society in the future? All kinds of answers are welcome, short or long, we will use what you send unedited.

Below are the responses, happy reading and voting:

Medborgerlig Samling/MED

Cryptocurrencies are here to stay!
We, at Medborgerlig Samling, are the first Swedish party to adopt a political program for cryptocurrencies. Medborgerlig Samling wants to change today's policies that aim to restrict, penalize, and monitor. Instead, we at MED want to enable innovation and development, protect individual freedom and privacy, and increase competition for banks.
With a special political program for cryptocurrencies, we distinguish ourselves from other parties as a party focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, growth, and prosperity. New technology can seriously challenge the oligopolistic behavior of banks and opens up increased competition within financial services, which ultimately benefits Sweden's international competitiveness.
MED's party leader Daniel Sonesson is also the CEO of a company active in the sector. “Sweden has many talented innovators and entrepreneurs. Instead of holding them back, we in Medborgerlig Samling want to unleash these forces,” says Sonesson. “Swedish politics need to have a much greater political focus on economic growth and value creation. Our prosperity is held back by a large state, high taxes, regulatory zeal, and dependency on benefits. We in MED want to change that,” continues Sonesson.
In the cryptocurrency program, MED presents guidelines for Swedish politics in six areas that will contribute to healthy development within the cryptocurrency field, where the freedom of individuals and businesses, as well as the needs of society for security and justice, are considered. We in MED believe that cryptocurrencies increase the individual's ability to act independently of traditional financial institutions, which can promote personal privacy, freedom, and self-determination while countering oligopolistic tendencies in the banking and finance industry.
MED’s cryptocurrency program can be downloaded and read here.

Moderaterna

Did not respond, BUT, Moderaterna has a candidate, Pehr Granfalk, who lists “The Bitcoin Standard” as his favorite book, and that is information that we at Goobit/BTCX consider should be included here.

Socialdemokraterna

Did not respond.

Miljöpartiet

Responded, but only with: Your email has been received and will be read by our staff. Now during the election campaign for the European Parliament (EU election), we receive many inquiries and emails which means a higher load, and responses may be delayed somewhat. All views and suggestions are received, and any questions are answered in turn.

Blockchain technology really has the potential to revolutionize many parts of society. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies offer an opportunity to decouple from the banking system. This means that the official payment systems face competition in an exciting way. Evaluating how it has worked in El Salvador with Bitcoin as the official currency will be interesting for the rest of the world. There are many myths and misunderstandings about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Regulations introduced in Sweden and the EU therefore need to be balanced and take into account personal privacy and the special construction of cryptocurrencies. The recently decided EU cryptocurrency regulation MiCA is largely a positive step to protect individuals who trade with cryptocurrencies from fraud and counteract money laundering and criminal activity, but without hindering the development of the crypto markets. Introducing technology-specific bans or regulating which technology various cryptocurrencies may be based on is not currently an issue.

Liberalerna

The digital development offers new opportunities with increased production, faster communication, and new jobs. It is exciting to follow the development with cryptocurrencies and blockchain. As with all technological development, both threats and strengths follow in the wake of the new financial solutions. On the plus side, of course, is the possibility of new smooth solutions for the consumer and increased privacy. It is particularly interesting how cryptocurrencies can create opportunities for democracy work in dictatorships. But as legislators, we must also work on how society should meet the organized crime's use of new technology. Therefore, I am working, for example, for the balance between freedom of payment and the interest in curbing, for example, terrorism to be more seriously investigated in the legislation on money laundering. And that is why we liberals want to see a stable and broad legal framework for, for example, blockchain, AI, and sharing services within the EU. In this way, the EU's member states can together protect democratic rights and personal privacy without the technological development being complicated by 27 national legislations.

Folklistan

Actually did not respond but mentioned that they have launched their own NFT.

Vänsterpartiet

Did not respond.

Feministiskt Initiativ

Responded, but only with: Do you mean Bitcoin specifically or cryptocurrencies in general?

Sverigedemokraterna

Responded, but only with: Thank you for your question. When do you need the latest response on this?

Kristdemokraterna

There is currently work ongoing at the EU level to develop proposals on how cryptocurrencies should be regulated. We believe it would be good if there was a uniform regulatory framework within the EU, so that the rules are the same across borders. Such a framework needs to first and foremost address the need for adequate consumer protection, handle risks of money laundering and at the same time not constitute a hindrance to the positive aspects that cryptocurrencies can contribute with.
It is natural that the Riksbank investigates which technical solutions are available for a possible e-krona and carefully follows what happens in the field internationally. There are a number of issues, such as effects on financial stability, trust in the payment system, and the banks' role in the future, that need to be highlighted before the political system can make a decision on the introduction of an e-krona. Kristdemokraterna also notes that the cashless society affects groups, often elderly people, whom we cherish.
